Of Boys and Trucks

It was a bright and chirpy Saturday, after doing the routine marketing for the week's supplies of groceries, we detoured and headed to the toy department for a gift for our colleague's kid. 5th May in Japan is Children's Day and we thought we buy him a little gift as we are going on a short trip with him.
Okie, so we heard from his daddy this kiddo likes Thomas The Train, cranes and stuff. So after thronging through the whole toy department, it was just between a Thomas The Train toy or a Baby Shovel. Until ahem, my dear Lao Gong spotted something boys would like, a truck ..... and showed it to me. But i was thinking, but his daddy say he like Thomas the TRAIN, cranes, shovels etc lei...

Lao Gong says : Look at this truck, isn't it cool ? i can put my ChoroQ collection inside the truck !

Me: *faints* Huh ?!? We are shopping for the kiddo lei, focus focus...

So finally we decided to get the Baby Shovel for the kiddo, its real cool ! it looks exactly like the real one and even has the company name Kobelco on it ! (Wanted to take a pic of it but it was gift wrapped so too bad...)

I grabbed the Baby Shovel and was heading to the cashiee when my Lao Gong stopped me ...
Lao Gong says : What about MY truck ? (notice the MY...)

Me: *faints again* Huh ? u serious ah ?

Lao gong: Yeh, i can put my Mini cars inside ma...

Me: Ok lah Ok lah, & here i present to u the almighty truck !

It states its for ages 3 and over, so my hubby sure qualifies in that department.

The Real thing ! TADA.... with the press of a button, the sides open up and u can load your stuff.
* PS>> Inside sits another car my hubby bought the same day... boys boys....
Just like to add a random post...
Was feeling damn bored one day and this is what i did to my beloved Pooh "chan" (an affectionate way to call my bear... hehe)
He looked like he was turning panda so i decided to put the Kose Q10 Eye masks for him too ! Keke...
Look at him, so obediently lying down while masking !
Ok, gals who bought the eye masks, this is the CORRECT way of placing the eye masks, below the eyes.
NOT this way ! Get it ?!? Muahahahaha...

My shopping loots

Let's talk shoppe !
Judging from the catchy title, i bet its enough to entice like-minded female species to take a second look at my post. If you are one of them, congratulate me ! Cos that was my ultimate motive... haaa.. well.. because though i have not blogged much just about an entry per week since about a month ago, my tag board is empty n there are no comments lei.. So i start to wonder if anyone is reading at all ! so babes n hunks reading, leave me some will ya... ;> Though i secretly hope my hubby don't read this, cos he will have a very good idea of what i bought recently !!

These clothes are bought from my recent Seoul trip, 3 dresses,1 vintage tee, 1 camisole and 1 blouse or is it 2 ? Haaa... i can't remember all ..... but i am in love the dainty dresses, vintage tee, sweet retro camisole, well basically all ! What a sense of satisfaction... Yay !

These loots also from Seoul ! i love the pinkish gold bag with chain handle, seems like the rage now but i loved it for its roominess , another bag and some face stuff from The Face Shop, obviously.. and mirror and comb set.. ermm.. i not sure why i bought it but its vintage design appealed so much to me i could'nt resist the temptation... Wicked. The great thing about it is, they gave freebies on top of whatever i bought. I got an extra face mask and a nail buffer ! Was extremely pleased and i hopped around with joy !

These 2 pair of shoes were added to my collection some time ago, i bought them within minutes my hubby left me at the shop and by the time he was back, it was all wrapped up and ready to go home with me ! Fashionistas babes, hunks too, do give me ideas what to pair with the orangey patent pumps, and share leave me some comments on my buys, positive or negative all welcome ! ;pThat's all folks, for today ! u'be sure there are more coming !

Its Spring 2007 & its moi Birthday !

Its Spring and i love Spring ! Can finally forsake thick winter jackets that make me look frumpy, due to my lack of height (i know, should be fat lah...) i don't know how those actresses can look so good in it ! i think i just look plain FAT n SHORT in it lah. Blah.. Well... anyway, it was my birthday and i thought i could pen..i mean type(",) some thoughts (since i AM getting old and these memories can be saved for future reference ! hahaha...) so these are the happenings of a typical day to work plus my mini-Birthday celebration with my Lao Gong.

Since it was my birthday, i decide to wear something nicer to work, there you go. it probably looks like very casual attire but on other days i am more "Log" than this lor.. its already very nice liao.. wahaha (always underdressing..infamous of Sillyporeans )

On my way to the train station, i spotted these colourful flowers (err.. i don't know what it's called.. oops will the teachers pls advise ?) and could'nt resist taking pics with em, ! One of the reasons loving spring is also, it really adds colours to your life ! Beautiful ..

On our usual route to the train station, we always take a short cut and there is a primary school and secondary school around, thus i decide to take a pic amongst the yellow hats ! So i squeezed in between them & haa.. look one for em is staring at me ! keke.. As it was my birthday and being usually chirpy, i was yakking in English and the kids probably found it funny cause they took turns to stare at us .. thus i decided to greet em, i said Ohayo Gozaimasu ! n guess what ! They kids ran off.. whahaha.. well, i don't blame them, cause i rememebered when i was much younger my mum said : Remember ah, do NOT talk to strangers no matter what. I guessed they remembered what their mums said and ran off ! haa.. The Japanese primary school kids do not wear uniforms to school, however, they have a standardized yellow cap for boys, yellow hat for girls and a very square looking school bag(blue for boys and red for girls)

Cherry blossoms trees in the school, the sakura are fully bloomed and leaves are starting to grow .

A close-up on sakura flower, i was told by my hubby that a sakura flower has only five petals and there is another type of flower called Ume(Plum) which looks very much like the sakura but has 6 petals and they bloom just before sakura , thus if you see sakura like flowers before the sakura season, it probably is the Ume(Plum) instead.

Spotted a very pretty Japanese garden, wanted to go in but decided otherwise. Wait they charge me for trespassing ! Cause its private property.

Have always wondered what/how these blue containers were used for in the primary schools, the kids planted flower seeds in the little blue pots and they are blooming too ! Final pic that made my day before i head to work, saw these 2 beagles waiting for their owner and yup they are tied to the bicycle. This is not the first time i saw these 2 doggies, the owner usually brings them on morning walks i think every morning, one tied to the left side of the bicycle and one to the right.. its a cute sight, the owner will then cycle, the dogs are pretty smart, they pace themself so that they will not clash into each other or the bicycle !

As planned, after work we headed to the cake shop to buy a cake for my birthday celebration, we were hesitant to buy from Fujiya at first(see y on previous post) and went to another cake shop that was suppose to have handmade cakes but they did not look appealing thus, we went back Fujiya and got a chocolate. Ok, this shall be our dinner as suggested by my Lao Gong ! Japanese service is great and so is its packaging ! i love everything of it ! The packaging, the cute little candles and a Peko chan card.Look at the yummiliious chocolately cake (Do not drool on your PC ! muahaha) The chocolate plate with ぺコちゃん(Peko chan) writes : お誕生日 おめでとう トレシー ちゃん Happy Birthday Tracy... hehe Me n Lao Gong posing with the cake... my last 2X birthday !! See so many candles !! The cake is FULL of candles, simply means.. well we all know it.. shhhh.. shhhh
Me the Birthday girl.Trying to act chio,(as i said ACT ONLY la) dun laugh la.. i want to cut up the cake !

30 seconds after the candles was blown n wish made... each of us took a bite... yum yum.. delicious.. all is forgotton of the Fujiya episode.. 2 minutes later... more evidence of the yummie cake. The cake was soft n fluffy, creamy but not overly oily.. *drools* After 5 minutes, this was what is left of the cake and a mess....

There are no more pics to take after this simply because there is nothing left to take ! Hahaha...

i love Seoul - Part II

Finally, energy to continue part II after sufficient shut eye. Hmmm.. to pick up from where i left off... excitement filled every teeny weeny bit of me when we landed, as much as i wanted to head straight to the shopping district right away, we had to clear the immigration and find the guide first for our transfer to the hotel since Incheon airport is an hour away from Seoul ! After all this is our virgin experience booking from a Japanese Tour Agency in Japan, any mis-comm would have tainted any excitement for the trip. Nonetheless, we managed to get our tix at the Narita Airport Terminal One, boarded the plane and arrived in Seoul, Incheon airport without a hitch. (keeps fingers crossed) Just days prior to the trip, i had read some news on Incheon airport being the Worlds' Best Airport for 2005&2006 (Changi was defeated 2 years in a row ! Time to buck up, guys)

First pic in Seoul,Incheon Airport (Due to my flurried excitement, couldn't take a good picture cos rushing off to immigration... haha)
The minute we arrived in the nothing to rave about hotel, basically it had the bare essentials but my hubby was condemning it the minute we stepped it ! Well, cos it didn't have air-conditioning ,only have heater (lucky it was spring n it wasn't at all warm) the door couldn't close properly blah blah... the ironical thing was i didn't mind that much ! haa, as long have a bed can liao.. anyway, we spent less than 8 hrs in the hotel for the 2 nites we were there so ... Almost immediately, we dumped our luggage and headed straight to Dong Dae Mun !
Eating what my Korean friends called Korean fast food found all over Korea (Similar to Lok Lok in Thai)
My fave shopping complex in Dong Dae Mun (Migiliore-pronounced Mee-ryo-rei, taught by a Korean friend ) - A Must Go if you love what u see in K-Dramas, however, its not as cheap as what you would expect but quality is rather good !
Another shopping complex - Doota
Nicer small boutiques but pricier too ! In the streets of Dong Dae Mun -shops lined on both sides of the alley(reminds me of Pasar Malam in Singapore) , selling lotsa fakes, shoes, tees, accessories. This place is probably the cheapest shopping place i found through my trip this time round ! Streets are heavily littered though..

While thronging thru the streets of Dong Dae Mun, we smelt something pungent... almost pukey (yuckies) and my hubby found the culprit ! its these yuckky little silkworms, Eeeks... they smell real bad.. so if you are in Seoul and smell something pungent, you are most likely to find someone selling silkworms. Remember to siam (duck) ! Okie forget the yuckky stuff.. here is something yummie... Korean shui kao(dumplings) , they had kim-chi flavour but we pass for obvious reasons ! (Pardon my shack face & messy hair, its 4am for gods sake !)
Korean udon (See my hubby shack face)
my forced smile ! it is 5am as indicated, and we are still posing in Dong Dae Mun. The next day, after catching some 3hours(yes just 3hrs of sleep), we were up and about n headed to moi hubby highlight of the trip, THE Seoul World Cup Stadium. For the first time, his excitement overtook mine and we snapped pic after pic. Matches of the 2002 World Cup which were held in Seoul( co-hosted with Japan) were played in this stadium.

My hubby dreams is to play in a stadium like this to full capacity !
Random pic taken at a kindergarten, love its cheery look and bright colours .
Gyeongbokgung Palace
(back ground "Opening of Palace gates, changing of Guards" procession in progress)
Seemingly insignificant on the grounds of the palaceBarging in !
Cherry blossoms in the palace gardens
After indulging in the sights of the World Cup stadium and the Gyeongbokgung palace, time to head down to the shopping district ! Yipee for me !
First stop : Myeongdong
Place to be if your are a fashionista, similar to Harajuku & Shibuya in Japan, Tokyo.
A sweet, caramel biscuit with star n heart, the glutton in me couldn't resist taking a bite immediately ! Evident ! Minutes later, munching away again, this time round tapioca chips !
More food ! Krispy Kremes Donuts ! Yummilicious
2nd Stop : In the streets on Nan Dae Mun - Fountain
Korean Bao Shop
Eating the Big Bao in the streets of Nan Dae Mun
3rd stop : Ewha Uni station aka Nu Ren Jie (Woman's street)
Great knick knacks and fashion indulgence for Korean street fashion.
Love the colourful leggings and accessories at reasonable pricing.
Fave hangout for uni students. For those wanting a piece of Seoul, grab it at http://queeniezcloset.blogspot.com Whilst stocks last !
Korean yakitori , with extremely spicy sauce ! Watch out , better don't add too much !
What's more interesting is this stallholder can speak Chinese.
Last stop : Dinner at Sinchon with Korean babe
Live octopus on hot plate ! This is hot & spicy and extremely yummy !
i loved it ! (similar to drunken prawns, cooked live)
The finale... mix rice with what's left and there you have it , Korean version of fried rice.
Simply mouth-watering, yummilicious !
The waiter was so imaginative, made a heart shape out of the rice, sums up beautifully my memories of Seoul, i love it.....
